Surface temperatures at Lake Lanier are finally above 60 degrees, and the lake level is about 2 feet below normal pool. Lake Lanier fish are well into their Spring pattern and going crazy! Spotted bass have moved into their spawning areas, and are hitting 1/8th ounce Swirleybirds like they are candy! My guide trips are beginning to produce great numbers of 2 to 5 pound bass daily.
Fishing for spotted bass, shoal bass, white bass, and stripers in the upper Chattahoochee River is great! Some stripers are also being caught with blueback herring and trout on flat lines around secondary points in larger creeks. A few are also being caught trolling bucktails or crankbaits in the same areas.
We're starting to book up for jet fishing or wildlife trips on the upper Chattahoochee River, so if you want to go this year, better call soon.
Trout fishing in the Chattahoochee River below the dam for both rainbow and browns is getting better every day, except after heavy rains. Most trout are being caught during lower water levels on Swirleybird spinners, sinking and floating Rapalas, smaller crankbaits, and dry flies. Jet boat trips are great for this type of fishing, just call 678-367-0012.
