Fishing Piers [Post#: 611 ] Reply to this post

I am planning to stay in a condo in Destin mid March. Are there any fishing piers near the high rise area? What is the fishing like that time of year in Destin?

Thanks

Mike,

The wife and I like fishing at the okaloosa pier toward Ft. Walton, next to the gulfarium. From the Walmart it is about 13 minute ride. Be careful there by the way.. the police are pretty tough on speeders over the bridge. You can also go by the Half Hitch bait and tackle shop and ask for directions. But you need to head west on 98 over the bridge past Eglin AFB. Nice place and the folks are great. As for the fishing.. well you can probably get some reds, whiting, spanish mack, heck even a tunny, sheephead, pompano(maybe) or the never dying supply of salt water catfish. Just watch the locals and they are usually willing to help someone not familiar with the area.

Good Luck and tight lines.
