Fishfinder <$250 [Post#: 2377 ] Reply to this post

I am looking to upgrade my existing fishfinder(Lowrance x37) which came on my Tracker-ProCrappie Boat(Alum Weld). Make no mistake, I am not a great fisherman so I need all the help I can get. That said, I am not looking to break the bank either, so I was looking for a quality system under $250. I fish on a freshwater highland lake which is about 20,000acres with a mix of rock and tree bottom with depths to 120ft. Primary catch is a variety of bass (LM,SM, Stripper) Catfish, and Crappie.

From what I have read, it would seem that I should get a "dual beam" and color also sounded nice but given the prices it would appear I need to choose between the two. The two systems which I have narrowed my search to is the Humminbird 717 and the Lowrance X59DF. Your guidance on which one to pick would be helpful, or if you have another suggestion I am also open.

Simply stated, help position me to catch more fish. Thanks
