With the ice out being one of the latest on record, a slow start but some big fish on the weekend, things are now perking up in northwestern Ontario. Good walleye catches were reported on Lake of the Woods, Lac Seul, Eagle and other area lakes. Walleyes were shallow on Monday and Tuesday, in the bays searching for food. The northerns were also utilizing the bays and very active with the warming sun. Lake trout were taken shallow over deepwater using plugs, spoons, and minnow baits.
