Halibut Swiftsure Banks [Post#: 1161 ] Reply to this post

First time out to Swiftsure and the Halibut were crazy. These fish are taking a five-inch Roadrunner spoon in a depth of two hundred thirty feet. It took two hours to land ten halibut we released a few. All weighed around twenty-five too sixty pounds. The King (Chinook) fishing was also Red hot in the same area. It took a little longer to boat the Chinook do to the time it takes to play them out to the boat. Are next trip to the banks will be June 6,7,8 from now till then we will be in Sooke fishing for Trophy Chinook. It was great to see a good number of anglers up from Washington this past weekend. In Sooke the fishing was good for this time of year, go deep 100 to 150. Colour has changed to a glow anchovy teaser ( white) trolled behind a Red and Silver O'ki flasher. The crabbing is great in Port Renfrew; it is a good way to end the day. Halibut and crab stuffed mushrooms for appetizers then some cold beer followed by a feast halibut and chips.
