Goliath Grouper & More:Capt. Hanson's Fishbuster [Post#: 268 ] Reply to this post

Captain Dave Hanson of Fishbuster Charters fished 8 to 31 miles offshore from Bonita and Naples, and at Bonita's reefs this week, with light and heavy tackle and live bait. Mark & Ernie Kusterer caught edible fish their first two days out, including kingfish to 45 inches, keeper gag grouper to 25 inches, three limits of keeper mangrove snapper, keeper lane snapper, and a 15 lb. bonito. They devoted their third day out to the pursuit of goliath grouper: Using jack cravalle and Spanish mackerel to bait these big boys in 70 feet, 31 miles off Naples, they caught three, weighing 60 lbs., 100 lbs., and 200 lbs. Jim & Jan Veraldi, with grandsons Dustin & Wayne, caught loads of Spanish mackerel 20 to 25 inches, porkfish, and keeper-sized mangrove snapper, lane snapper, triggerfish, and grunts. Mr. & Mrs. Tony Poole caught twenty keeper Spanish mackerel to 23 inches, mangrove snapper, two lemon sharks at 3 foot and 6 foot (released) and a 16 inch flounder, 9 miles off Bonita Beach, using shrimp.
