Zihuatanejo Fishing Report [Post#: 539 ] Reply to this post

This report from Vargas Sportfishing, Whisky Charters, Benito Juarez and Mar y Tierra Sportfishing

Sailfish are the name of the game and they are plentiful. Most boats are raising 4+ fish per day. The fleet averaging catching close to 2 fish per day. Vargas fleet again releasing all Sailfish catches and being joined by the Gitana, Vamanos II, and a couple others. It was another week with over 70 Sailfish landed and most released for the reporting fleets. The trip of the week went to Capt. Adolpho on the Dos Hermanos with a 7 fish day, on the 28th. The best news is the Dorado. They have finally arrived in good numbers with most boats reporting at least 1 per trip. The tuna went offshore now at 20+ miles and averaging 50-80 pounds. Capt Alfredo Vargas now has the Esturion III available for charter, this is a special design panga for Tuna only, $250 per day.

Inshore, the best news here is that the Chulas have started showing up. There was limited inshore angling as the tourists are after the Sailfish.

Seas.............Calm
Temperatures.....Daytime real feel just under 100º, Seas-80º
Bait Supply.......Excellent
Best bait........Live bait for the tuna, trolled baits for Sails, live bait or small rapalas for Roosterfish
Best areas....... Blue water from 2 to 10 miles out, 210º

Come fish with us November 7-9, 2002 in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
