Striper Fishing on 2-9-02 [Post#: 608 ] Reply to this post

We started out the day with slick calm weather on
Saturday. There were a lot of boats heading out of the inlet. We ran up the beach, stopped around the pier and fished 25 minutes - no bites. Then we heard about one fish caught up north & ran another 6 miles. I saw the birds outside of the fleet, stopped the boat, got 2 lines in the water then hooked up to a 20Lb. stiper right away. For the next hour we caught 14 fish with the largest being 44Lbs. I had to return to the dock as I had an afternoon trip at 12:00PM. For the PM trip, we ran up the beach with Ray Bunds group from Williamston, NC. The lines were out, fished 10 minutes, & hooked one fish. It was another 30 minutes before finding some fish above the fleet. Again, we caught our limit & returned to the dock.
