More Striper Fishing [Post#: 620 ] Reply to this post

2-15-02 It was a beautiful Friday afternoon here on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We decided to run up the beach where one of my friends (another charter boat captain) was fishing. The birds there were going off like crazy! We stopped & dropped 2 lines in & had a fish on one of them immediately. We caught our limit of 20-30LB fish & went back to the dock. Our party of 3, a father & 2 sons were a little worn out but very happy with their catch.

2-16-02 On Saturday morning, we left with our our AM trip a little late, again a father & his 2 sons. We heard a hot tip & when we got to the "secret spot" the fishing was hot! We had the stripers on top going after the fatback & there were flocks of birds chasing the fatback and better yet, only a few boats! We caught 20-30 fish, the biggest being 36LBs...sadly, some had to go back but not for lack of size! It was the first trip for the boys in the charter & they had a big time & so did Dad.

2-16-02 For our PM trip, we ran back to the same "secret spot" but, unfortunately some others had found it as well & there were now about 50 boats there. This time we trolled around a bit before we had a bite. We caught around 25 fish that & casting with light tackle. Again we exceeded our limit & had to throw some back though they were all keepers.

Striper fishing should be good for a few more weeks for those big ones!
